Volunteer

Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting Generation’s learners.

Our volunteering community enables us to provide our learners with crucial feedback on their interview techniques and skills, providing meaningful support at a key point in their journey to life-changing, sustainable employment.

We go further, together.

VOLUNTEER TESTIMONIALS

“As a volunteer for Generation, I offer bootcamp graduates mock interview practice and support so they feel confident to succeed in their real job interviews. The aspect I enjoy most is personal connection with the graduates, their willingness to learn and passion to do well. It’s a privilege to help prepare them for employment in careers that may otherwise be inaccessible”

Sadeeq Akintola, Google Cloud

”The course was designed very deliberately to enable progress from all the candidates and seeing this play out in real time was highly rewarding as a participant. It’s about building skills and confidence for later life and even made me brush up on my own!”

 Dean Hutchinson, Samsung Electronics UK

“Working with Generation on their interview module is very rewarding as you see the students apply feedback to improve. The students are totally committed to learning new skills and the Generation coaches offer support and guidance throughout the programme. I volunteer with this group as it is well organised and has a proven success rate with 97% of the students successfully completing the programme”

Cathy Winsey, Accenture Interactive

“It means a lot to me that programs like this exist, to open doors into the tech industry and make it more accessible to folks from all sorts of walks of life who might not otherwise have had the opportunity to bring their skills to that table. There’s something so tangible about building people up in preparation for interviews, the first hurdle they’ve to overcome to join in. I’d wholeheartedly recommend supporting by volunteering, and indeed by looking at hiring opportunities in your own place of employment to snap up some wonderful candidates.”

Maryanne Doyle, KPMG Ireland

Mock interview support

As learners approach the end of their training, they begin preparing for their very first job interviews. To set them up for success, volunteers play a vital role by giving learners the change to practice and receive constructive feedback.

Each volunteer commits 2 hours and 15 minutes to run online mock interviews. These are not technical interviews, and volunteers ask a set of predefined questions and provide tailored written feedback to help learners strengthen their skills and confidence.

What makes a great volunteer:

  • Friendly and approachable
  • Professional experience in interviewing or hiring
  • Reliable and committed.

Commitment

  • Completing a short interviewing self-training and quiz
  • Delivering live mock interviews and providing written feedback

This a rewarding opportunity to share your expertise, build learners’ confidence, and directly support the next generation of emerging talent.
