Kamrun | Healthcare

Kamrun was a full-time housewife before joining Generation’s Healthcare programme in London. She was eager to enter the workforce. However, she was finding it incredibly difficult to break in, having no degree, never having worked before, and facing the additional challenge of speaking English as a second language.
“I have never worked in a job before, but I have always had a strong desire to learn.
When I started looking for a job, everyone was asking for experience—and that was my first big challenge. I searched for jobs using various job search sites, but I did not receive any calls due to a lack of experience.”
Determined to build a better future for her family, Kamrun took a leap of faith and applied to the Generation programme. She embraced the programme with energy and commitment, eager to learn and transform her life.
“Through the Jobcentre, I came to know about Generation. I completed a Healthcare course, which helped me secure this job more easily. I enjoyed all the topics. I was learning with great interest and enthusiasm.
Generation helped me grow in confidence, gain practical skills, and prepare for a real job in Healthcare. It was a turning point in my journey.”
After graduating, Kamrun quickly secured a role as a Healthcare Support Worker and Phlebotomist at Hammersmith & St Charles, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She’s thriving in her role, which involves taking blood samples and supporting patients in clinical settings.
“I enjoy the support from my colleagues, the positive work environment, and the chance to grow in my role. It feels good to be part of a team where I can learn and help others every day.”
For Kamrun, the future is full of possibilities—and she’s excited about what’s next.
“Now that I’ve started my career, I’m excited about growing professionally within the NHS. I want to gain more experience, learn new skills, and possibly move into more advanced roles in patient care.
I’m passionate about inspiring others—especially women and mothers like me—to follow their dreams, no matter when they start.”
The career transition has also transformed Kamrun’s personal life.
“Getting this job gave me financial stability and allowed me to support my family for the first time. Now we can save a little every month, which is helping us plan for our children’s future.”
Mentally, it has boosted my confidence and gave me a sense of purpose. I feel proud to be working at Hammersmith Hospital, helping patients every day.
My children see that their mother worked hard and achieved something meaningful. That makes all the difference.”
