Wai Man | Healthcare

Wai Man (44) took part in Generation’s first Healthcare bootcamp delivered in Manchester in 2023. Before joining the bootcamp, Wai Man had emigrated to the UK and was struggling to get a job in a new country.

“I was struggling to get a job as my work experience is not sufficient, English is not my first language and I didn’t have a driver’s license.”

During the Healthcare bootcamp Wai Man learnt the skills required for a role in care and improved her employability skills to prepare her for the workplace.

“The program helped confirm my passion about [care]  and that I fit the industry well.

The instructors and mentor always encouraged me to be self-assured and resilient. I hope to use what I have learned to be able to continue caring for people with different needs so that the world can have more love and that more families have a better life.”

After graduating, Wai Man secured a full-time job as a Day Nursery assistant at Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery.

“After successfully joining a job, I gradually got to know the local culture and people, increased my confidence in my work and broadened my social circle.

It makes me feel more purposeful and happy in life, reduces financial pressure, and I’m able to plan for the future.”
